NJMMA is allied with the International City & County Management Association (ICMA) & subscribes to its Code of Ethics. The Code specifies 12 ethical principles of personal & professional conduct, including complete dedication to good government. These standards go well beyond those required by law & include a provision that members shall "refrain from participating in the elections of the members of the employing legislative body, & from all partisan political activities that could impair performance as a professional administrator."  NJMMA members must adhere to the ICMA Code of Ethics & must demonstrate ethical & legal awareness in personal & professional relationships & be dedicated to the highest principles of honesty, integrity, & excellence in management.
