The Spring Conference
will be held at the Breakers Hotel in Spring Lake, from Wednesday
afternoon, May 21 through Friday morning, May 23. The same place and basic
format as in 2007 - a very successful and enjoyable conference! Come and
enjoy not only a thoughtful and educational program but also good fellowship
and just plain fun.
There
is a special registration form for the conference including all lodging and
meal arrangements – this is a “package deal” worked out by the Association
with the Hotel so all purchase orders and
vouchers go to the Association for processing.
Please note:
the Association has reserved 60 rooms at the hotel plus meeting rooms and
related facilities. Since the Association must guarantee to the hotel the
actual room and meal count by
May 2, 2008,
there will be no refunds for any cancellations after that date. Rooms not
required will then be made available to the general public at the prevailing
rates. Consequently it is important that NJMMA members complete this
registration process for the Conference as soon as possible to guarantee a
room. If you
cannot process a purchase order by May 2, you must fax or email the
registration form indicating your attendance to the Executive Director.
Fax: at 973-927-1591,
Email:
njmmaexdir@aol.com .
Those staying
overnight at the hotel will be responsible for any incidental costs incurred
(e.g. telephone, extra meals, etc.) All meals, coffee breaks, and social
activities (including cocktail hours and hospitality areas) are included in
the registration fee. If a member wishes to stay over Friday or for the
weekend, he/she should contact the hotel directly at 732-449-7700, indicate
that you are attending the NJMMA Conference and want to stay over additional
nights.

Highlights:
Wednesday afternoon
- registration from 1:00 p.m. on with the program starting at 2:00 p.m. with
an opening session on the 4% Tax Levy and related budget issues by Susan
Jacobucci, followed by concurrent sessions on PERC or COAH issues. That

issues followed by concurrent sessions on human resource management or

Police [Chief vs. Director} and Shared Services [focused on school
relations].
Thursday late
afternoon / Evening- a boat trip on the
Delta Queen on the Manasquan River and Barnegat Bay with hors d'oeuvers and
beer/wine/soft drinks. After the boat trip the dinner speaker will be
Paul Mulshine, a Star Ledger Columnist [who had a very successful
program last year on state issues - guaranteed to be topical and humorous].
Friday morning
- starting with a breakfast at 8:30 AM, there will be a discussion with
Matthew Boxer, the newly appointed State Comptroller who will hopefully
explain the operations of this new office and how it will interface with
municipalities, especially in contract review.
Exhibition Area
- In addition to the Program outlined above, on Thursday there will be
exhibits by 15 vendors who provide specialized services to municipalities.
They will be available to talk to you in a less frantic mode than what
occurs at the League Conference.
If you have any
question about the program or reservation process, please contact Bob Casey,
the Executive Director. At 201-874-4050 or by email at
