What is NJMMA?

The New Jersey Municipal
Management Association (NJMMA) is an organization of professional local
government administrators & assistants whose goal is to improve the
quality of local government in New Jersey through professional management. The Association
creates an information network offering the free flow of ideas thereby enhancing each
members ability to deal with the problems & pressures of the profession.
NJMMA is allied with the
International City & County Management Association (ICMA) & subscribes to its Code
of Ethics. The Code specifies 12 ethical principles of personal & professional
conduct, including complete dedication to good government. These standards go well beyond
those required by law & include a provision that members shall "refrain from
participating in the elections of the members of the employing legislative body, &
from all partisan political activities that could impair performance as a professional
administrator." NJMMA members must adhere to the ICMA Code of
Ethics & must demonstrate ethical & legal awareness in personal
& professional relationships & be dedicated to the highest
principles of honesty, integrity, & excellence in management.
